Appi-um is a freely distributed open-source mobile application UI testing framework.
The ability to develop tests in any language is arguably Appium’s best feature. A test that wants to interface with Appium can easily utilize HTTP libraries to construct HTTP sessions because Appium is nothing more than an HTTP server. To assemble the proper commands, all you need to know is the Selenium protocol.
As you can expect, there are already some libraries that do this for the most widely used programming languages and frameworks, including C#, [dotnet], [java], Ruby, [python], and Javascript, to name just a few. All of these libraries are open-source initiatives.

App-ium currently supports Android and iOS, but no support for Windows, unfortunately.
No! A test machine connects to a test server that is running Appium, automating the entire process, according to the 2-tier architecture that Appium advocates. However, this setup is optional; you can run App-ium on the same computer as your tests if you like. Your test will connect to Appium using the loopback address rather than a remote host.
