When a SAP Fiori app is launched, the SAP Fiori Launchpad’s internet Dispatcher sends a request from the client to the ABAP front-end server. While this request is being issued, the ABAP front-end server verifies the user’s identity. The SAP NetWeaver authentication and single sign-on (SSO) techniques are used by the ABAP front-end server to verify the user’s identity. The following mechanism can be used for authentication.
When a client application has to log in to a remote server but neither end is clear which authentication protocols the other supports, SPNEGO is employed. The pseudo-mechanism employs a protocol to identify the possible common GSSAPI mechanisms, chooses one, and then assigns all similarly-situated security activities to that chosen mechanism. this could assist organizations in gradually implementing new security measures.
In SAP systems, SAP Logon Tickets serve as user credentials. When enabled, customers can use the SAPgui and web browsers to access multiple SAP applications and services without having to enter their username and password again. In some circumstances, SAP Logon Tickets can be used to authenticate into third-party applications like Microsoft-based web apps, hence enabling single sign-on across SAP restrictions.
A security session is formed between the client and the ABAP front-end server as soon as initial authentication is completed on the server.
As a result, OData requests can be sent from Launchpad and SAP Fiori apps to the ABAP backend server. These requests are safely transmitted by use of trusted RFC.
