S-pring is a powerful open-source, loosely coupled, lightweight, java framework meant for reducing the complexity of developing enterprise-level applications. This framework is also called the “framework of frameworks” as Spring provides support to various other important frameworks like JSF, Hibernate, Structs, EJB, etc.
There are around 20 modules which are generalized into the following types:
- Core Container
- Data Access/Integration
- Web
- AOP (Aspect Oriented Programming)
- Instrumentation
- Messaging
- Test
- The layered architecture pattern used by the Spring framework aids in the selection of the necessary components and offers a stable and unified foundation for the creation of J2EE applications.
- The S-pring component called AOP (Aspect Oriented Programming) promotes unified development by guaranteeing that the business logic of an application is separated from other system functions.
- S-pring is a highly customizable MVC web application framework with easy framework-switching capabilities.
- enables the creation, maintenance, and definition of configurations as well as the lifespan of application objects.
- The IoC (Inversion of Control) design philosophy, which is unique to Spring, encourages things to declare their dependencies rather than seeking out existing objects to rely on.
- A lightweight, Java-based, loosely linked framework is called Spring.
- S-pring offers a general transaction abstraction layer.
A Spring configuration file is essentially an XML document that mostly contains information on the classes and defines how they are linked and configured. The configuration files in XML are more verbose and organised.
There are two types of IOC containers in spring framework.
- BeanFactory
- ApplicationContext
ApplicationContext is an advanced container, whereas BeanFactory is a simple container. The BeanFactory interface is extended by the ApplicationContext. ApplicationContext offers more features than BeanFactory, including support for i18n message resources and integration with spring AOP.
